Zur Verbesserung der Anwendungsleistung können Sie WriterSeqNum und AnyWritersSince verwenden. Ein Thread kann z. B. die Informationen zwischenspeichern, die er während einer Lesesperre erhalten hat. Nach dem Aufheben und späteren erneuten Erhalten der Sperre kann der Thread ermitteln, ob andere Threads in die Ressource geschrieben haben, indem er AnyWritersSince aufruft. Ist dies nicht der Fall, können die zwischengespeicherten Informationen verwendet werden. Diese Technik bietet sich an, wenn das Lesen der von der Sperre geschützten Informationen aufwendig ist, z. B. beim Ausführen einer Datenbankabfrage.
Der Aufrufer muss eine Lese- oder eine Schreibsperre besitzen, damit die Sequenznummer verwendet werden kann.
