Ein CRM (Compensating Resource Manager) stellt einen COM+-Dienst dar, mit dem Nicht-Transaktionsobjekte in MS DTC (Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator)-Transaktionen eingeschlossen werden können. Obwohl CRMs nicht über die Fähigkeiten eines vollständigen Ressourcen-Managers verfügen, kann durch sie mit Hilfe des Wiederherstellungsprotokolls die Unteilbarkeit (Verhalten nach dem Prinzip "alles oder nichts") und Dauerhaftigkeit von Transaktionen gewährleistet werden.
Das folgende Beispiel besteht aus zwei Teilen: einem Client und einem Server. Es wird gezeigt, wie ein benutzerdefinierter CRM unter Verwendung einer Worker-Klasse, einer Compensator-Klasse und eines Clerk-Objekts erstellt wird und wie ein Commit und ein Abbruch ausgeführt werden.
