Hello, I’m trying to create the Azure resource “Grounding with Bing Search” (SKU G1) to use it as a tool/connection in Azure AI Foundry Agent Service (agent grounding with Bing and citations).

Goal: Connect the Bing grounding resource to a Foundry project/agent and test tool calls (e.g., forcing tool usage).

What I did:

  1. Azure Portal → Create resource → Grounding with Bing Search

Region: East US

Deployment fails immediately

Error:

The subscription is not eligible for the selected SKU G1 (Code: SkuNotEligible)

Question:

Which subscription offer types are eligible for SKU G1 (Pay-As-You-Go / EA / CSP / etc.)?

Is this error caused by using a free/credit/sponsored subscription, and what exact upgrade is required?

Are there any region / quota / provider registration prerequisites for this resource?

If needed, I can share the subscription offer type (without posting sensitive IDs publicly).Hello, I’m trying to create the Azure resource “Grounding with Bing Search” (SKU G1) to use it as a tool/connection in Azure AI Foundry Agent Service (agent grounding with Bing and citations).

The error message "SkuNotEligible" indicates that your Azure subscription does not meet the eligibility criteria for the SKU G1 of the Grounding with Bing Search resource. This issue can arise from several factors:

    1. Subscription Offer Types: Typically, certain subscription types like Pay-As-You-Go are eligible for various Azure services, while others like free, credit, or sponsored subscriptions may not be eligible for specific SKUs. You would need to check if your subscription type falls under the eligible categories for SKU G1.
    2. Free/Credit/Sponsored Subscription: If you are using a free or sponsored subscription, it is likely the cause of the error. Upgrading to a paid subscription, such as Pay-As-You-Go, may be necessary to access the G1 SKU.
    3. Region/Quota/Provider Registration Prerequisites: There may be specific regional availability or quota limits that could affect your ability to create this resource. Ensure that the East US region supports the G1 SKU and that your subscription has sufficient quota. Additionally, verify that any necessary provider registrations are completed in your Azure subscription.

For precise eligibility and upgrade requirements, it is advisable to consult Azure's official documentation or contact Azure support for assistance regarding your specific subscription offer type.
