Surface Duo screen rotation not working

Just picked up a used surface duo and the screen rotation does not work, I've check all settings that I know of, and made sure the auto rotation is on. I've also noticed that when I flip the screen all the way back, the back screen stays on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've updated the phone to the latest version.

    Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community and posting your concern here.

    In this case, please try to force your Duo to shut down and restart by holding down the power button. Reset the settings back to default and set the screen rotation one more time. If issue persists, Reset Surface Duo to factory settings.

    Let me know how it goes by simply replying on this thread.
