Can the Surface Book display port be used for Ethernet Adapter?

While Apple uses their Thunderbolt mini port for video and or ethernet, is the Surface Book only capable of using its mini display port for video only? The Thunderbolt adapter fits, yet I will not test it till it is confirmed.
