My built-in SD card reader stopped working and the "Memory technology devices" section doesn't not appear in the Device Manager

My SD reader stopped working (the built-in SD card reader at the side of the Surface Book 2), I thought maybe it was because I didn't update my windows 10 to 11, but I just did, and it still doesnt work.

-My SD card works in other laptops (sandisk is the brand of the card)

-Now my system is fully updated so I don't think that is the issue

-I haven't added any new programs

-I ran a scan for any hardware changes in device manager and found nothing.

-The SD card doesn't appear in my device manager under USB controllers or disk drives

-The SD card doesnt appear in the file explorer

-Troubleshooting on hardware didn't find anything

-The SD card does not appear in disk management

-The whole section of Memory technology devices doesnt appear in the Device Manager. I tried action "add legacy hardware", manually, in Device manager and look for memory technology devices but there were no drivers listed to install.

Please help me with this

I already asked for help in february this year, but the suggestions given then weren't useful and I found a temporal situation for reading the card in another laptop but I really want to fix my own laptop

Thanks

    Hi Melissa Ingaruca Moreno,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I understand that you are experiencing issues with the built-in SD card reader on your Surface Book 2. I'm sorry to hear that you have already tried some troubleshooting steps, but the issue still persists.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that the issue is not related to the Windows update or any new programs that you have installed. Since the SD card works on other laptops, it is likely that the issue is with the Surface Book 2's SD card reader itself.

Here are some additional troubleshooting steps that you can try:

    1. Check for any physical damage on the SD card reader. Make sure that there are no debris or dust particles that may be blocking the connection.
    2. Try using a different SD card to see if the issue is with the card itself.
    3. Check devices in UEFI settings. Boot your Surface to its UEFI environment by following the steps provided here: How to use Surface UEFI - Microsoft Support. Once you are on the UEFI menu, go to Devices tab. Check if the Docking USB Port and Accessory Radio Port options are enabled. Enable them if not. If they are already enabled, disable them first then select Exit > Restart now. Boot back to the UEFI menu then re-enable the devices.

If in case the issue persists, kindly open Device Manager, click View and select Show hidden devices then see if the Memory technology devices appears. Check also under Disk drives section in Device Manager if the SD card card shows up under that section or not also.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Marrion
