Surface Earbuds not Charging

I have a weird issue with my Surface Earbuds Gen 1.

I can only pair when they are inside the case and from the Android or Windows 11 Surface App, I can see that both buds are at 0% charge.

When I place either of the buds in to the charging case, the LED flashes red continuously as though the buds are not placed in the correct charging position.

I have tried everything including resetting both case and buds but result is still the same.

Any guidance to get these to work will be appreciated, bought them back in December but have never needed to use them until now.

    If your earbuds would no longer charge even after resetting its firmware back to its factory default, then this is most likely a hardware problem. Any hardware related concerns are best handled by our Microsoft assisted support team. I recommend contacting our live support team to check available options for your Surface earbuds. You may contact them following the instructions below.

    1. Go to Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    2. Choose how you would like to get support for your Surface device.
    3. Type in the problem you need help with.
    4. Look at any available solutions offered and select Contact Support.

    I'm having this same issue with a pair of earbuds that I won through work. In addition, I can't register them to my account because neither the serial number listed on the case nor the serial number listed in the app doesn't come up with anything. And since I don't have a receipt or anything, I can't get any kind of exchange for a working new pair.
