MS Surface Earbuds no connecting ....

Hello,

I recently got a brand new pair of Surface Earbuds.

They are not connecting. I followed the instructions and the white light is flashing after pressing the bottom button for 5 seconds.

Running Android 13 on my phone - nothing shows up.

I tried my Fire Tablet - nothing. But other devices show up. Will the work with Fire Tablets (the tech specs do not mention it, but it is BlueTooth)

Tried my Windows 11 laptop - nothing shows up.

  1. Any ideas to try next
  2. What should I see if it shows up in my list of BT items ('Surface Earbuds') or some code?
  3. Anyone else get it to work on Android or Fire Tablets? Or is it only for Surfaces?

Thanks,

V

    Hello Veepo,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear about this issue on your earbuds.

In this case, try resetting your earbuds to factory settings or its firmware. Please check Reset Surface Earbuds - Microsoft Support for detailed instructions on how to reset the earbuds.

Don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Regards,

    Hello StevenK,

First of all, thanks for responding.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. The Factory Reset did cause the case to flash RED then WHITE. Then if flashed only WHITE.

But on my iOS phone - the Surface add just keeps scanning, even though it keeps flashing.

The Fire Tablet does not have a Surface App - and Bluetooth scanning shows nothing.

On my Windows 10 desktop - nothing shows up either on the app

Windows 11 Laptop - nothing on the app either.

I tried the factory reset as well. No Difference yet.

    It is fully charged.

When I take an Earbud out and put it back in the case light flashes red

Any ideas what to do next?

    V

Thanks for keeping me posted, Veepo.

If resetting did not work, then this is most likely a hardware failure already. It would be best to get in touch with our Microsoft assisted support to get it diagnosed or check your replacement options, if necessary.

    1. Go to Contact Us - Microsoft Support and select Devices.
    2. Choose your preferred support method.
    3. Type in the problem you need help with.
    4. Look at any available solutions offered and select Contact Support.

I have the same issue - no longer connects to my iPhone and cannot be found by the Surface app.

I have tried factory reset and firmware reset. Support leads me to the same page for setting up or this thread. Please advise.
