Hi, I have started using Edge on my Mac today and I have noticed when navigating back/forward using touchpad there is a certain delay before the navigation actually happens. It is very annoying and makes you browse the web slower.
I have recorded a video which illustrates the issue I am having, first you can see how slowly Edge does the navigation, and then you can see how quickly Chrome does the same thing

This only happens when using the touchpad to swipe back/forward, using keyboard shortcuts or pressing the back button with mouse provides instant navigation, as it should always be.
Is there any way to reduce or completely remove this lag?
Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.
I understand your query related to the lag when swiping between pages on Microsoft Edge.
We tried reproducing your query on our lab machines and found the same behaviour as you’re seeing.
I would also appreciate if you could provide feedback and suggestions so that our developing team can look into the suggestions and constantly improve the features. You can Open Microsoft Edge. Click on the Settings & More Ellipsis (…) on the right hand corner and then, select Help & Feedback and select Send Feedback.

Hi,
I had the same problem in the last year and couldn't find anything related to this!!! I tried to switch from chrome to edge several times, but this issues exactly stop my switching every time. The going back and forward arrow animation would just become very slow taking like 1 second to finish.
To elaborate the issue, it won't present until using the browser for some amount of time, and instantly, that issue would snap in and never go away until you restart the browser. It's very annoying since I usually have more than 50 tabs to reloads. It won't present if you use command+[ or command+] to go back and forward but will only appear if you use touchpad's two-finger swipe left or right. The only workaround I found before is to find any touchpad mapping utility to map the swipe left/right behavior to command+[ or ]. But, it still an issue and I really have no idea why people weren't talking about it.
Thanks for your reply, I've sent my feedback using the method you described and I've also linked to this issue in my feedback. I hope there is some solution.
Cheers
Interesting, for me the issue occurs all the time, it doesn't just start when I have a lot of tabs open, it just happens all the time, so I think it is an intentional design choice and not a bug. A bad design choice nonetheless. The lag should be removed or at least users should be able to configure it.
