IE MODE in EDGE does not work (randomly)

Hello,

I have a very strange problem with IE MODE in Microsoft Edge.

When I open a URL placed in the compatibility list sites, sometimes it opens OK in Microsoft Edge in IE Mode (correct behaviour), but maybe the next time that I close and open Edge, it redirects the same URL to Internet Explorer, opening an IE Windows (incorrect behaviour).

I have checked that:

  • In the correct scenario, if I go to Edge://compat/iediagnostic I see that the Run of IE MODE is correct, and the API version of IE MODE is showing version 12. Edge has no errors messages.

  • In the incorrect scenario, if I go to Edge://compat/iediagnostic I see that the Run of IE MODE is in error, and the API version of IE MODE is showing version 10. Also shows that Windows needs an update for using IE MODE, but when i go to Windows Update, it is up to date (it is like a "ghost" update). And also I see this error message in Edge "To open this page in Internet Explorer mode, reinstall Microsoft Edge with administrator privileges."

This problem only occurrs with Win8.1 32 bits. I dont have this problem with Win8.1 64 bits or Win10, and I have checked that the machine has all prerrequisites.

I am getting crazy with this. I hope you can help me.

    Do you have any extensions on the affected device?

    If yes, try disable them and see if the problem persist?

    This is not an expected behavior, I advise you to open file a report in the affected device , take a look at How to Report a Feedback/Bug to Microsoft Edge’s Team? - Microsoft Community.

    Thank you for your response.

    I havent got any installed extension in Edge. It is a clean installation.

    Anyway, I have already reported the problem the bug to Microsoft Edge´s Team.
