Edge on Android opening PDFs in Google Drive - any way to change this?

I've noticed lately that when I download and view a PDF in Edge on Android, the file gets downloaded, but it automatically opens in Google Drive - previously PDFs were opened in Adobe Reader. I'm not sure when the change started, as I haven't recently been downloading PDFs on my phone, but as of late January Edge was still opening PDFs with Adobe Reader.

Is there any way to change this behaviour?

Hello, my name is Marco and I am an Independent Advisor. I will do my best to help you.

    If you have Android 9:

    -Go to the settings option

-From the settings click on Apps & notifications

-From the Apps and Notifications section, click on Advanced option

-Now, click on the Default apps

    • In the next window, you can see the list of available option, where you can change the default app selection.

-Click on the application, which you need to change the default app.

-Choose Adobe for your PDF files.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I use a Samsung Galaxy A70, so possibly due to the UI, the options you gave me didn't show up. I went to Settings, then Apps, then I had to use the three-dot hamburger in the upper right corner to go to 'default apps'. In that menu, for 'default app selection', I have 'ask before setting default apps'.

However, I never set any default apps for PDFs, so when I open a PDF via 'My Files', I'm presented with options for which app to open them with, and when I use Firefox, I'm likewise presented with an option, so the behaviour seems to be specific to Edge.

So, I set the default to Adobe when opening a PDF in My Files, and just tried downloading PDFs from two different sites. Both times, they opened with Adobe.

    Thanks for the help!

First, I don't use the Samsung anymore - I changed to a Nokia 8.3. I downloaded a few PDFs in Edge, and every time they opened in Google Drive's own PDF viewer. What I found is that once the file finishes downloading, you can tap on the 'download' button in Edge (or tap the 'download completed' notification by swiping down from the top of the screen) and when I tap on the file icon, it shows me options for which app to view the PDF from, but Edge isn't among them.
