    To open Internet Explorer, select the Start button, type Internet Explorer, and then select the top search result.

    To be sure you have the latest version of Internet Explorer 11, select the Start button, select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and then select Check for updates.

    If you're looking for a way to install the new Microsoft Edge on your Windows 8.1 RT computer, then I'm afraid you're out of luck. That operating system became obsolete several years ago, and Edge will just not run on it.

    Your choices are limited: stick with Internet Explorer 11 or get a new computer.
