I've allowed an old email address to laps and haven't used it for sometime. There is some personal information and files I'd like to remove and then close the account. When I attempted to log into this old account I have found that it is being used/ possibly hacked by another user. It has a new recovery email and the security question is in another language. How do I gain control over my account and who do I contact to report this issue. I am able to provide detailed proof of old emails I have sent back in 2014, to prove this is my live.com email address. thank you

Hi, I've managed to get a security code to an existing email, which I have submitted. I've had to fill in further limited required Q/A information regarding a possible product that had been purchased via the hijacked email account. The information was a vague response as it was a very long time ago. Due to my vague response I presume I'll get a standard rejection. I do however have very specific emails that I had sent in 2014 that would varify it's my account. What is the best way to proceed now?
I'm not really interested in re using this account, but to ensure that files are removed and the account correctly closed down. It has sensitive information and personl info, I'm concerned about my privacy.
Thanks again
Just answer the questions to the best of your ability. They don't have any way to accept any additional input other than the questions the computer gives them. This is a very strictly regimented algorithm that has been developed to assure that no possibility can exist for giving someone's personal information away to a hacker or stalker. Unfortunately it's not adjusting quickly enough to the advent of hijackings like have recently proliferated. It is hard to adjust such a program when at any given time it's likely processing a million account recoveries. It just won't move any faster. I'm sorry. I've been helping people with this for years and the progress is the most glacial I've seen.
Hello, I'm Greg, here to help you with this.
I'm very sorry you're going through this. We are seeing a lot of account hijackings recently where the hacker changes the password, even the email and security info so it becomes impossible to recover.
Here is everything to try to recover a hacked Microsoft Account:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/sbs/account...
Try one more time to change your password as shown here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402683...
Normally they'll want to send a Security Code to the mobile or email you set up here for that: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12428/.... There is also information about troubleshooting receiving the code at the bottom of the page.
If you cannot receive the Security Code because it is not up to date or has been changed by the hacker, try to do Account Recovery following this walk-through: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17875/...
You can amend the Account Recovery form if you remember any other information about the account, which may shorten the waiting period. Unfortunately they will not budge on the wait as they have learned over decades exactly what's needed to avoid any chance of giving away your personal data to a hacker or stalker.
In the mean time if you're locked out of Windows I will show you how to create a new Account so you can still get into your Windows install for now using all of it's apps and accessing data, or if necessary reset or reinstall Windows.
If you are unable to do any of this because of changes the hijacker has made to your account, contact Microsoft Support at https://support.microsoft.com/contactus. Explain the problem and keep asking for an agent to get a call back or chat on week days.
Emphasize to the agent that your account has been hijacked, that you don't have the account security information because the hacker changed it, but you can still answer questions about the account to prove it's yours.
Here is everything to know about being hacked and how to prevent it:

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary
