GPO applied successfully for disabling browsers auto updates still its not working

Hi Experts,

We have applied GPO to disabling browsers auto updates, GPO got applied successfully still it's not working in Couple of environments. The same GPO was working in all other Windows 2012 environments We have no idea what went wrong in those two environments.

Could someone kindly help me fix this issue. Below are the GPOs we are applying.

GPO and Browse to Computer Configuration>Preferences>Windows Settings>Registry

  1.  Chrome 
    

a) Create new registry with the below values :

    Hive: HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE 

    Key Path: SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Google\Update 

    Value Name: AutoUpdateCheckPeriodMinutes 

    Value type: REG\_DWORD 

    Value Data: 0 (Select Decimal) 

b) Create new registry with the below values:

    Hive: HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE 

    Key Path: SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Google\Update 

    Value Name: UpdateDefault 

    Value type: REG\_DWORD 

    Value Data: 0 (Select Decimal) 
  1.  Firefox        
    

a) Create new registry with the below values:

    Hive: HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE 

    Key Path: SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox 

    Value Name: DisableAppUpdate 

    Value type: REG\_DWORD 

    Value Data: 1 (Select Decimal) 
  1.  Microsoft Edge 
    

a) Create new registry with the below values:

    Hive: HKEY\_LOCAL\_MACHINE 

    Key Path: SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate 

    Value Name: UpdateDefault 

    Value type: REG\_DWORD 

    Value Data: 0 (Select Decimal)

    Based on the description, I understand that your question is related to the Server 2012 server.

    Support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 ended on October 10, 2023. After this date, these products no longer receive security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates.

    It is recommended to update your server to the latest version.

    Thanks for letting me know about this.

    As you mentioned, I have upgraded to Windows server 2019 still facing the same issue.

    Do you have idea what we have to do in this scenario?
