No one can predict how Microsoft Edge will perform on your computer.

You can download Microsoft Edge for Windows 7 directly from Microsoft:

    Hello, Cav 1SG

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, Microsoft Edge can be used on Windows 7 SP1 with the following caveats:

    1. Support

The Chromium kernel-based version of Microsoft Edge (i.e., the new Edge) supports Windows 7 SP1, but only on certain versions. Microsoft had pushed an Edge update (KB4567409) for Windows 7, but as of January 15, 2023, Microsoft has discontinued official support for Windows 7, including updates for Edge.

Although official support has ended, users can still manually download and install Edge version 75 for Windows 7.

    1. Installation requirements

Ensure that Windows 7 SP1 has all necessary system patches installed, otherwise Edge may not be installed properly.

Download the Edge version for Windows 7 from Microsoft's official website to avoid using incompatible versions7.

    1. Functional limitations

On Windows 7, some features of Edge may be limited. For example:

Microsoft account login is not supported, so data such as favorites, passwords, etc. cannot be synchronized.

Some new features may not be available because Windows 7 has stopped updating.

    1. Experience

According to user feedback, Edge runs well on Windows 7, with loading speeds and video playback that are comparable to other browsers such as Chrome.

The interface supports the Aero effect of Windows 7, which makes the visual experience better.

    1. Compatibility settings

If you encounter web compatibility problems, you can solve them by the following methods:

Enable IE compatibility mode in Edge: Click the menu in the upper right corner → select “Open with Internet Explorer”.

Enable “Use Microsoft Compatibility List” in Developer Settings.

Although Microsoft Edge will run on Windows 7 SP1, it is recommended to upgrade to a higher version of the operating system (e.g. Windows 10 or 11) as soon as possible for better security and feature support as official support has ended. If you need to continue using Windows 7, you can download the Edge version for Windows 7 from Microsoft's website and make sure your system is fully patched.

I look forward to your feedback.

    Best Regards,

    Aaron| Microsoft Community Support Specialist
