Why no Copilot shortcut in Edge widget on Android?

Are there plans to add a Copilot widget to the Edge search bar widget. I don't want to have to install Bing (>1GB) or a separate Copilot app for this.

    Dear Tony Almeda,

Good day! Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

In my case, the Copilot icon does exist on the left side of the Edge search box, and I can quickly access it by clicking it. This seems to be consistent with your requirements.

I am using version 137.0.3296.82. It is worth mentioning that before I updated, the Copilot icon was displayed in the bottom middle position.  You can click the menu in the lower right corner, then click Settings, scroll down to find "About", and check the version and update.

You can try to update your Edge browser. If you still can't see the corresponding button, here is an alternative:

On the browser home page, below the search box, you should see the "Add" button, click it, enter the Copilot URL (copilot.microsoft.com) in the upper input box. Then you should see the "Add a custom website" button below, click it. Then click "Add to Home". Now return to the home page, you should see a button below the search box to quickly access the Copilot webpage.

I hope this information helps. If you have any updates, feel free to let me know—I’ll be here to help.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    Lizzie-Z| Microsoft Community Support Specialist

    Hi Tony,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

That is excellent feedback. I can confirm that the Widget does not have the Copilot button.

    1. Please go to Edge Menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback to let Microsoft, since this is a user-user supported forum.
    2. Maybe if it helps, you could add https://copilot.microsoft.com webpage as a shortcut on the homepage until Microsoft fixes it. For it, open Google chrome > Open Copilot and Add site to Home screen.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us. Good luck!

    Hi Lizzie,

    Thank you for your reply.

The search box to which I'm referring is the Edge Search widget, not the bottom search box in Edge, which does have the Copilot button.

My version of Edge on Android is the same as yours. I would like to see the Copilot button as it is on the Bing search widget, beside the right of the search box. I can't see any reason why it could not be added. It was very convenient to simply touch the Bing search Copilot button to open Copilot. I don't want to have to open Edge every time I want to launch Copilot, and I don't have room for yet another search bar widget.

It looks like I will have to provide Microsoft with some feedback, however, to try to get it added.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sumit

Thank you for your reply and confirmation of my issue. I will make suggestion to Microsoft regarding adding a Copilot button to Edge's Search widget on Android.

I just removed Bing and disabled Chrome on my mobile as PayPal payments were consistently failing to complete when Bing passed the URL to Chrome. I reported this but no-one seemed to know why or what to do so I decided to go completely with Edge as it's what I use on my laptop, and anyway Edge is lighter RAM-wise. I've saved a great deal of storage space on my mobile by doing this but I was surprised to find no Copilot button/shortcut on Edge's Search widget. Hopefully it's just an oversight and not a big deal to have it added.

It would also be far more convenient for Microsoft to include a Help and Feedback menu item in Android Edge, not just on the Windows desktop version. Surely it can't be a big ask for this?

    Thanks.

I also just requested it to the Edge team :)

This exists - please open Menu > All Menu button > Help and feedback.
