How can I get help with compatibility issues for the Edge app for android

Hi there, so about two months ago the Microsoft Edge Beta app for android in the Google play store stopped being compatible with my android 7 and even worse now the Edge app (non beta) is also no longer compatible with my android 7 phone. I've left feedback, I've emailed the developer but with no success. So I'm wondering if anyone knows how I could get this resolved. I believe it's just a matter of the developer updating the min sdk version, but naturally I could be mistaken. Any help would be appreciated. I was really enjoying Edge and had basically incorporated it as my main browser in place of Firefox which I had used for years. It would be a shame to no longer be able to use Edge on Android. Thanks in advance for your time and your help, it is appreciated. Cheers!

    Hello Robin Mc,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing Edge app compatibility issues with Android, and I understand that this must be causing you a lot of frustration.

In order to better understand your issue, I'd like to invite you to share more details with me:

    • Where exactly is the incompatibility? For example, a particular feature, or is it not working at all?
    • Have you tried resetting Edge, clearing edge cache and data in Edge's settings?

If you haven't updated edge, updating to the latest version may solve some known issues. Please refer to: Update to the new Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support

If these actions don't solve your problem, please reply to me with the questions above, and this will determine our next step in the right direction! Looking forward to your reply.

    Best Regards ,

    Hi there,

Thank you so much for getting back to me, I really appreciate it and in reading my question back I realize that I wasn't clear at all about what the specific issue was and apologize. So an extra big thank you for still trying to help.

The issue I'm having is related to updating the app in the Google Play Store. In the Play Store, when I go to update either Edge or Edge Beta the option to update is not available and instead in red text it says "This app is no longer compatible with your device. Contact the developers for more info."

Both the Edge and Edge Beta apps still work, but I'm not able to update them to the newest version.

I've read online that I should clear the Play Store Cache and app caches and have done so. I've also updated my phone. I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled the apps for fear that I won't be able to reinstall them at all due to the compatibility issue. I understand from reading online that it's probably related to my phone only being android 7 and that in the latest updates to the apps the developer(s) probably set the minSdkVersion to something higher than Android 7. I understand Android 7 is an older version and I've had this issue with other apps but they always clear themselves up, either on their own or with a quick email to the developer.

Thanks again for getting back to me. I really do appreciate it.
