Microsoft Edge Never Finishes Update on macOS

Every time I try to update Microsoft Edge, the update never fully goes through.

Screencast of issue

As an aside, I do notice that I end up getting signed out of various services as well (such as Google). I wonder if something is getting corrupted?

This has been going on for several months for me at this point. I love using Microsoft Edge, but this issue is what is preventing me from fully switching over, unfortunately.

What Did I Try

  • I have tried installing via a Homebrew Cask and from the Microsoft Edge downloads page. Both experience the same issue.
  • Fully re-installing Microsoft Edge resolves the issue, but I cannot do this every time there is an update

Technical Specs

  • Hardward: Macbook Pro, 16-inch, 2019
  • Operating System: macOS 14.6.1 (23G93)

    Hi, JVD3

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

We are unable to reproduce your issue. Based on the video you provided, it seems that Edge has completed the download process, but encountered a problem during the final step of replacing the version. This could be due to some service issues. You can try installing a Canary version of Edge to test if the problem is specific to the Stable version of Edge. If the issue persists across both versions, it is likely due to missing foundational services or files. For such issues, we recommend seeking further assistance on Microsoft Learn.
