How do you prevent websites from automatically opening tabs in EDGE for ANDROID

This concerns EDGE for ANDROID, not Windows.

Certain websites automatically open new tabs to other sites. How do I disable Edge for ANDROID from allowing tabs to be automatically opened? It doesn't matter if it's a legitimate website, I just don't like websites and tabs to be opened without my permission.

If there isn't a built-in feature (and why not?), is there an add-on or app I can use? If not, should I switch over to Firefox, etc?

    Thanks for your feedback,To prevent websites from automatically opening tabs in Microsoft Edge for Android, you can enable the "Block pop-ups" setting. Here's how you can do it:

    1. Open Microsoft Edge on your Android device.
    2. Tap on the Three horizontal lines menu in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
    3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
    4. Choose Privacy, Security, and Services
    5. Scroll down and tap on "Site permissions."
    6. Tap on "Pop-ups and redirects."
    7. Toggle the switch to enable "Block pop-ups."

    This setting should help prevent websites from automatically opening new tabs without your permission. Microsoft Edge for Android does not support add-ons or extensions at the moment.

    If you continue to experience issues with unwanted tabs opening, you may consider using an alternative browser like System browser that offers more robust options for blocking pop-ups and managing tabs.
