Have you tried resetting Microsoft Edge to see if it will help? You can go to Settings > Reset settings > click on Restore settings to their default values then Reset. If the issue persist, I suggest reinstalling the app. I also shared a link below on how to change default search engine to help you check if you missed any steps.
