Edge wants to go - but can't

OK I am trying to uninstall Edge but for some reason it won't follow my implicit instructions

Since I own the Windows software - it appears to me - extremely odd that I can't decide what programs I am allowed to use on my PC

So how do I REMOVE it from my computers ?

I much prefer Firefox for my browser and for PDF's

It is more secure and uses much less resources

FINALLY in the OS choice in posting this - where is Windows 12 ?

Actually, you don't own the Windows software. You pay for the right to use it. I'm not aware of any commercial software which gives users ownership rights. Microsoft owns Windows.

Microsoft needs to keep Microsoft Edge in Windows because the back end (the technical part, without the interfaces) provides internet services for other parts of the operating system and for Microsoft Store apps.

If you wrote an operating system that depends on the internet, would you want that operating system to use your browser, or would you trust your competitor's browser to keep your best interests in mind? 😉

Windows 12 has not been released. In fact, Microsoft has said nothing about Windows 12. You may read rumors and speculation about Windows 12, and that's all they are.

    Hi ,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

I'm afraid you can't remove or uninstall Microsoft Edge on your Windows computer, even with Powershell commands, because Windows supports apps that rely on the web platform, Microsoft's default browser is an essential component of the Windows operating system and can't be uninstalled.

If you don't want to use Microsoft Edge, you can set your preferred browser as your default.

Regarding Windows 12, I am afraid there is no official announcement from Microsoft about releasing it.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
