You can try to reset MS Edge first from the 3 dots > Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values and then click on Reset and check it again afterwards and another option is to try remove first the extension and then try to install it again via https://metamask.io/download/ and see how it goes. If it will still be the same you can also check and try to see whether other users are experiencing the same thing while using MS Edge via https://community.metamask.io/ as there is also a possibility that this particular update on the extension has an issue.
