The "Graphics Acceleration" is unavailable

Hi team,

I am using Debian Desktop 12, MS Edge 134.0.3124.83 (Official build) (64-bit).

After clicking the "Graphics Acceleration" button, the page is blank. Not sure if hardware acceleration is enabled on my desktop.

When watching videos on YouTube, I observed some significant latency. The CPU usage is relatively higher than watching the same video on Firefox.

On the other hand, when accessing edge://gpu/, the page says that the hardware acceleration is enabled.

May I know how can I confirm if the hardware acceleration is enabled on my Debian 12? I am not sure which one is trustworthy.

Thank you very much!

BR,

SomeoneWating

    Hi, SomeoneWating

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Theoretically, the information on the edge://gpu/ page is internal data from Edge and is generally the most accurate. The higher CPU usage compared to Firefox may be due to some optimization issues. (Additionally, if hardware acceleration is disabled, many other features on this page would explicitly notify you that they cannot function due to it being turned off, so it should be enabled. The "video encoded" function is also in the "Software" status on our side, so it should not be an issue.)

At the same time, Edge on Linux is not within the support scope of this forum. You can visit Microsoft Learn for further assistance.

    Hi Tommy,

Thank you so much for your answer. I agree with you that the issue might be related to optimization, as the latency is not happening every time when I watch videos. I also observed some other performance issues such as the cursor lagging even I am just browsering the Github blogs.

Anyway, I will seek help in the proper department for this issue. Thank you again!

    BR,

    SW
