Edge (Android) don't show me the right apps for opening downloaded PDF-File

Hello,

On my Phone I have Office 365 and Xodo (= standard app) installed which I use for reading PDF files.

When I download a PDF file with Microsoft Edge and then want to open it directly, both apps are not shown and can not be used to open the PDF (see screenshot).

I always have to open the Download-Page of Edge and must choose "open with" on the downloaded file (3 dot menu) to get Xodo or Office 365 displayed as a selection.

Is there an option to get them work directly after download too? Or why there only some apps shown which are not able to read PDF-files?

    Hi Philipp Greben

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Understand your problem, you want the PDF file to automatically jump to the specified application when you open it directly

    Change the default app settings.

    Open your phone's “Settings”.

Find “Apps and Notifications” (some phones may show “App Management” or similar).

Select “Default Apps”. (The process may vary from phone to phone, so you can try searching for the default app directly in the settings.)

See if you can set a default PDF reader app (such as Xodo or Office 365).

Contact me if you need anything else.

    Best wishes

    Hello,

    THX for the fast reply.

Xodo is already my default app for PDF-files and if I download any PDF with Chrome, it will be open automatically with Xodo.

Therefore I think its a problem with the EDGE browser.

    Hi Philipp Greben

Test found that direct click on the pdf file will automatically use the edge of the built-in pdf viewer, can not be opened through the default settings of the phone, can only be opened manually with other software, which does cause inconvenience to the user. This requires the developer to improve in the follow-up, we recommend that you feedback on this issue.
