Issue trying to update my NOW TV desktop App from the Microsoft store

I'm having trouble trying to update my NOW TV desktop app. I absolutely gave up on trying to get through to Microsoft support by phone. <rant relocated>

That little rant now over, apologies but it had to be said, I will now detail my problem with why I am having trouble updating my NOW TV App.

I’m having trouble adding my windows 8.1 laptop as a device. I signed into my Microsoft account and it's not showing my laptop as a device. I went to PC and devices and then devices and it’s not showing. And when I click add devices, it finds nothing. I looked under my security settings in my Microsoft account and it shows no options to regarding devices. I can’t add an update to my NOWTV app from the Microsoft store because it’s saying I’m not connected to my laptop so I have to add it as a device from my Microsoft account. It says it doesn’t see any devices. I click add PC then choose Windows for OS click next and I keep getting the same details on signing in during setup and following the setup instructions on my PC to signing in after set up, go to settings, select accounts > your info, select sign in with a Microsoft account instead and the new device will appear on my account’s devices page. I’m already signed in witth my Microsoft Account, tried adding my Microsoft account again as suggested and I’m just going round and round in circles to do one simple thing!! To just add an update to my NOWTV app on my laptop!

<Begin rant>

 It's impossible, an absolute joke of a service, with an impossible menu to navigate through and god help people who are deaf ever trying to navigate through that minefield!! Not only that but you never get the number you want, get a US toll number, for chat support UK??, then a load of gobbledegook about going online and checking whatever nonsense they recommend you to look up which has nothing to do with your query as you try pleadingly just to have someone, anyone, to chat to resolve your issue, and then the call ends without allowing you a chance to go back to the main menu and you have to start all over again ringing the number back!! I'm sorry but I have to simply say that Microsoft support is a laughing stock and most certainly not user friendly!! It's as if they deliberately try to make it impossible to find what you're looking for and avoid having to deal with customers by phone at all! It's does nothing except add further stress to a day that for some people with busy work lives as I also do makes it even more frustrating. There isn't even an email address I can email Microsoft support at. I mean, really?? Could you ever imagine an important commercial company who you do business with at work not having any email support to query your issues with? I mean seriously!! And I know I'm far from the only person with issues getting through. Loads of people have.

<End rant>

Can anyone help me solve this issue please? Thank you.

    Thanks but this doesn't really help. I already explained I had done this.

    That is why I gave you street addresses and phone numbers to ring

    I tried dealing with Microsoft already, is what I also already explained, having rung them before. I'm looking for someone on here who might have had the same problem I've had who could help.

    I'm just not going to go through all that rigmarole with trying to get hold of a service that doesn't provide someone you can get hold of, with who knows how many menus you have to go through, as I said above. Done with ringing them again. So thank you Bill but no thanks.
