Good morning,

I should install power toys, but I have read that it is for Windows 10 or 11. Do you know if it can cause any issues on W8.1 x64?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/install#install-with-microsoft-store

Thanks.

You are correct according to this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/install#install-with-microsoft-store

    Requirements

    • Windows 11 or Windows 10 v1903 (18362) or newer.
    • .NET Core 3.1.20 Desktop Runtime or a newer 3.1.x runtime. The installer will handle this if not present.
    • x64 architecture currently supported. ARM support to become available at a later date.

Thanks. Do you know if it is going to be released for W8.1?

    We don't work fr Microsoft.

But I doubt they would as Windows 8.1 in in extended support, (no development) which ends inext year.

Do you think there is any risk in installing it on W8.1?

If I want to upgrade to W11, what do I have to do? Is it for free or do I have to buy a license?

I can't tell you to install it, when Microsoft has said no..

    10 > 11 is the upgrade path; not 8.1 to 11.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/windows-11-specifications

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/windows-11-requirements

The cut off point for suitable processors was only about 18 months before the release date of 11.
