How to log in to Admin for MS Teams? I can't use the personal email to which my Ofc 365 is registered.

1 – I'm an MS Word tutor. I teach online, using “Join.Me.” (GoToMeeting). I want to try MS Teams.

2 – MS Teams does not let me control student’s computer, to show them a skill.

3 – I tried to get into Admin. --To have more control of the “visitor” computer.

4 – Microsoft says “You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead.”

5 – I have no “school account.”  I'm a computer tutor, with a personal email, trying to use Teams.

6 – I can’t get any chat or phone help.

7- Can you help me get into admin, or in some way control MS Teams so I can control student computer?

    Dear Joe Loesch

I hope you have a good day. Thanks for choosing Microsoft Q&A forum.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Based on your description, I'd like to offer the following insights and recommendations to help address the issue.

Microsoft Teams Admin Center is only available to users with a work or school account that is part of a Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise subscription. Personal Microsoft accounts (e.g., Outlook.com, Gmail linked to Office 365 Personal or Family) do not have access to the Teams Admin Center.

    1. Create a new tenant to have access to Teams Admin Center (Optional)

To set up a new tenant, please follow these steps:

    Step 1: Choose a Plan

Visit Compare Office 365 Enterprise Pricing and Plans | Microsoft 365 and select a subscription that best fits your needs.

For more details on available plans and features, you may also refer to:

    Step 2: Create Your Tenant
Follow the guided setup process to register a new account. This will automatically provide a new tenant for you.

    Step 3: Access Admin Portals
Once your tenant is active, you’ll be able to access administrative portals such as: Admin Center, Teams Admin Center, e.g.

This will allow you to manage Teams settings, users, and advanced features.

    1. Limitations Compared to Join.Me or GoToMeeting

Microsoft Teams does not allow the host to take control of a participant’s computer by default. The participant must manually allow control during screen sharing.

If you need full remote control (like Join.Me), consider:

    • Using Microsoft Teams with Microsoft 365 Business Premium
    • Or using Microsoft Remote Assistance or Quick Assist (Windows only)

Please know that we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to support you. If you need any further assistance or clarification, feel free to reach out. We're here to help. Thank you very much for your understanding and your cooperation.
