When I paste a small icon in Chat, why does Teams put a huge gray box around it? My team is trying to add eye-catching icons with commentary to the chat during client meetings. The huge gray box ruins the effect.

    Hi Gallego,

The gray box around pasted icons in Teams chat is likely due to the default formatting applied by the application. Teams might be automatically creating a container or wrapper around the image to ensure proper display and prevent unexpected behavior. Unfortunately, there might not be a direct setting to remove this gray box within the current Teams interface.

If you enlarge the picture horizontally by a bit (so that it takes approximately the space of 3 letters) by putting white-space in it, then the grey box is gone.

I noticed that when I pasted HTML-text with mathematical formulas set as PNG-bitmaps. The PNG-bitmaps are generated from LaTeX-fragments in an orgmode-Text. There I can just add \quad for the white-space at the left and the right side. So, instead of $\Psi$ I write $\quad\Psi\quad$. Long formulae like $\sqrt{x^2+y^2}$ even do not need any additional whitespace at all.
