MS Teams changing status to Do Not Disturb without reason

Just in the past 2 days, my Microsoft Teams application has started spontaneously changing my Status to "Do Not Disturb." I cannot seem to find any setting or schedule that would explain this, even when I am using the app whether in chat or in a meeting, my status will change from "Available" or "In a Call" to "Do Not Disturb" and the only way to change it is to manually update the status. Typically within 5-10 minutes, it changes back again.

I am using New Teams, but even switching back to the previous Teams app this issue remains. I have also cleared the Teams cache by deleting all files in my %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams folder. I am at a loss.

I have also checked to ensure I do not have anything set in my calendar, and the Windows "Focus Assist" is completely turned off.

    Hi Michael

I’m Garcia and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you. Additionally, this is a user support forum and Independent Advisors cannot access accounts.

    I'm sorry to hear that.

Microsoft is aware of a number of bugs related to status changes, and they are working on a fix.

Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Make sure you're using the latest version of the Teams app.

Try using the Teams web app instead of the desktop app.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards, Garcia

I am using the latest version of the desktop app ("New Teams"), but even when toggling back to Classic Teams or using the web app it makes no difference. The behavior doesn't seem to be tied to any specific app version, but rather my Teams profile/account as a whole. With my PC turned off over the weekend, when using my phone to check messages via the mobile app I saw that my status was again changed to Do Not Disturb at multiple points.

I could understand changing my status to "Away" based on some sort of automatic time period, I cannot for the life of me fathom why the system would set me to Do Not Disturb based on any sort of timeout. I have again double checked that nothing is occurring based on a calendar setting nor is the status changing at any specific time whether it be :00, :15, :30 or :45 of each hour.

Another update: after some testing, this always happens right around every quarter of an hour. It doesn't matter if I set the status manually at 8:28, it will change to DND at 8:30. I can join a call at 1:27 and my status goes to "In a call" but at 1:30 it changes back to DND while on said call. So again it's definitely not a timeout from last changed or from inactivity, but is a scheduled sync/update that's occurring at 15 and/or 30 minute intervals. Somewhere in THE CLOUD my status is DND and I cannot clear it.

I have started experiencing the same issue today. It is unacceptable. I also do not have any schedules of my status etc. It just changes into 'do not disturb' by itself and blocks me from the communication. I change it manually, but it goes back to 'do not disturb'.

For what it's worth we opened a support case with Microsoft, who was of zero help, but the situation did resolve itself exactly 2 weeks from when it first started. Maybe you will have similar "success."
