Does Teams have trouble sharing certain audio codecs?

We are having an issue where Teams , either version, will not share the audio from certain videos. It doesn't matter what platform the particular video is on, the audio will not be shared. Zoom and other platforms have no issues sharing the audio.

The only difference I notice is that audio bitrate is constant on the working video. It appears that Teams cannot properly transmit some audio codecs/formats. Can you confirm?

    Hi Renia,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. Teams may encounter issues with certain audio codecs. While Teams itself doesn't explicitly list unsupported codecs, there have been reports of issues with certain sound drivers, particularly Realtek drivers.

    We can explore the following:

Driver issues: As mentioned above, outdated or incompatible audio drivers (especially Realtek drivers) can cause issues with audio sharing in Teams. Try updating the audio driver to the latest version.

Codec Compatibility: While not confirmed, the team may not be able to handle certain less common codecs efficiently. If you have information about the specific format of the video that isn't working, an online search can reveal known codec issues with Teams.

System updates: Make sure you're running the latest version of Microsoft Teams and operating system. Updates often include bug fixes and compatibility improvements.

Test with a different video: Try sharing the audio from another video in a different format. This can help determine if the issue is specific to certain video sources, or if it's a broader codec compatibility issue.
