Can I have a Teams site with a broad Channel (i.e. Marketing) that includes both non-private folders (i.e. we want the agency to save documents there) AND private folders (i.e. financials we DO NOT want the agency to see) ? I believe so but wanted to confirm, thank you!

    Hi LisaGR123,

Both non-private and private files can be part of a broad channel in Microsoft Teams. You can set up a standard channel where all team members can access and share documents from non-private folders. You can make a secret channel inside the same team that is only visible to particular team members that you invite for private folders. For conversations and file exchange that shouldn't be visible to the entire team, use private channels. In the same team but in separate channels, you can have both non-private and private folders in this way.

Is there anything else you would like to know?

    Kind regards,

    Jayzar

When I share the channel with the external team it says I cant share with this group. I may be trying to add the external team incorrectly. What are the steps.?

    Thank you!

    1. Go to the channel you want to share, and then select More options > Share channel > With a team.
    2. To share with a team inside your organization, type the name of the team owner, and select it from the list.
    3. To share with a team outside your organization, type the email of the team owner, and then select it from the list.

If you are still unable to share the channel with the external team after following these steps, there may be other issues preventing you from doing so. For example, your organization’s admin may need to enable B2B direct connect before you can add people or teams outside your organization to a shared channel.

You may want to check with your organization’s admin for more information.
