Change Caller ID

Hi Everyone,

We recently deployed Teams with Calling Plan in US and so far all goes well. We have been wondering if we are able to modify caller ID for outgoing calls? Right now, Full DID + Location is seen when a regular user places a call which is expected and I believe default behavior.

There are some users who wish to show company name instead of their assigned DID. Is this possible?
If yes, Can I just come up with whatever name I want? We registered our numbers as XXX but there are multiple globally-known brands/business units so we would like to have freedom with name choose.

Thank you.

    Hello MrSilver91,

Good day! Hope this finds you well.

Based on your description, you can create a custom caller ID policy in the Teams Admin center. For the outbound calls, the telephone number assigned to the user, which is the default shows. You can replace this with the Calling Party Name or CNAM set on the outbound PSTN call.

However, the CNAM information for the call may or may not be routed with the call because as this information depends on how the country/region has implemented CNAM (if at all). The reliability of CNAM delivery with the call varies depending on the country/region and carriers that handle the call--either as an intermediary or a terminating carrier.

    Hello,

Any possibility for us to set the caller ID policy for regular user?

You can't assign the following types of phone numbers for the outbound caller ID:

    • Any phone numbers that are classified as a user in your Calling Plan or Operator Connect's telephone number inventory.

    Hello MrSilver91,

    Thank you for your response.

You can assign a caller ID policy for a regular user just fine. The statement implies that you can't assign a user number as a replacement in the caller ID policy. A user number is a telephone number type which can be assigned to users in your organization.
