Can't mark Teams assignments anymore on iPad

Good day,

Yesterday I was quite happily marking assignments on my iPad. Today when I try, the assignment submissions don't look like they used to, and when I click on one, it opens in what looks like student view, without the usual edit, comment and grade options. What has changed?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Teams numerous times, as well as clearing the cache. My iPad is a 7th generation with the latest ios 17 installed. I haven't done anything to the iPad since last night. Please can someone help me get it back to the way it was,

Kind regards,

Fiona.

    Dear Fiona,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, we're sorry to hear that you are having issue with Teams assignments on iPad, and you've tried Teams reinstallation and clearing cache. For the situation you encountered, we do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

Considering that you've tried most of the troubleshooting steps user can do on iPad, we're afraid that more resources need to be involved in to help further.

On one hand, please restart iPad and open Teams web app in browser to check if you can mark assignments in web app as a temporary workaround.

On the other hand, we sincerely recommend that you contact your Microsoft 365 administrator and follow the steps in this article to create a support ticket with online support. The support team there has higher permissions than us, they help check the situation on your end, dedicate more resources to collecting logs, and help you troubleshoot.  The support engineers there also have the correct escalation channel, and this is the most efficient way to report such issue.

For reference, how do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Please accept my sincere apologies for not being able to resolve the problem and for redirecting you to the related development team. I regret any inconvenience this may cause. The fix to your concern can be identified through the background logs, and I suggest you raise a support ticket from the Office 365 admin center, where the related team will investigate the problem further by collecting the necessary background logs.

If there are any updates or we don't understand you, please feel free to let us know.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Rhoda | Microsoft Community Moderator

This is also happening in our District. It is 100% a bug in recent updates of Teams on iOS. We have tested on multiple iPads using the old version and then again after updating.

Clearing the cache or reinstalling does not correct the issue.

If you change the Appearance Theme from default to Light or Dark and back within the app, it will work temporarily. But, after leaving the assignments and going back, it with fail to load correctly.

Unfortunately, the same thing happened to me and my administrator didn’t know the cause and the solution to this issue.

And regarding your suggestion to open in a browser, I did that. But Safari and Google Chrome didn’t work as it mentioned that the browser is not compatible. I used the Edge browser up until a few hours ago and it was fine. But now, the Edge browser also showing me the incompatible browser error page too.

This is very upsetting as I depends on the Teams apps to grade and give feedbacks on students assignments withiut the need to download the assignments first.

I hope you can look into this matter more seriously and help us educators to be able to use the Teams apps to the fullest.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I am having the same issue when trying to mark assignments on the iPad. In the past the One Note or Word page would display alongside the box for feedback. Now you just see the feedback box. So you need to open the document in another app which means you can't type feedback at the same time as reading the assignment. It's fine on my desktop app.

Also I have noticed that on the 'Grades' tab the written feedback is now not displaying in the list view - only the 'grade' so you have to open the individual assignment to see the feedback. This is frustrating as pupils are used to seeing all their feedback in one place. They can see the old way through the browser but I would rather they use the app.

Anyone else use the 'Grades' section and know a better way for pupils to read all their feedback at once?
