One of the MS Teams private channels got deleted and I managed to restore it by finding it under deleted channels. It is not shown on teams because im not the owner or member but when use the channel url it gives the error "404 FILE NOT FOUND" and I can't found it on Sharepoint admin centre Active Sites. Anyone who encounter the same issue please give me the solution on this. Thanks.

    Hello NJ879

Good day and thanks for posting in Microsoft community, my pleasure working with you regarding the above query.

I understand that you are having an issue accessing a restored shared channel. May I know how you restored this channel? Is it through the team's app or the Teams admin center?

Also, based on your description, i notice you mentioned that you are not a member or owner of the channel, please note that, if you are not a member or owner of a private channel in Microsoft Teams, you will not have access to the channel. Private channels are designed to restrict access to only those who are explicitly added as members. This means that even if you restore a deleted private channel, you won't be able to access its contents unless you are re-added as a member or owner by someone who has the necessary permissions.

I suggest you should contact the owner or an existing member and request to be added. Once you are a member, you should be able to see the channel and its contents without any issues.

Thank you for your precious time and have a great day.

    Hi Onji Musa Zira,

Thanks for the feedback, I did restore the deleted private channel using the Team's app. Previously, i was not a member of a private channel but once i logged in using admin SharePoint, i could see the private channel and added myself as a member. Currently, i did restore the private channel and it wasn't reflected in Active Site in SharePoint Admin Center.

    Dear NJ879,

Good day and thanks for posting in our forum.

Regarding your issue, I did the testing from my side and it’s working fine, and the restored site also can be seen in Active site.

I would like to recommend a work around by accessing the URL of the SharePoint site of that private channel like: https://yourtenantname.sharepoint.com/sites/sitename/Shared%20Documents/xxxxx/xxxxxx.aspx

If the workaround doesn't work, then you can ask your admin to raise a ticket by the following way to restore that SharePoint site:

Login into admin center then Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>New service request.

The support team there has the correct escalation channel for this case

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,

    AJ RAJ| Microsoft Community Moderator
