Accidentally deleted a Channel

Hello,

I accidentally deleted a private channel in Teams, I tried all the guides posted in the forum but unfortunately, no luck. I couldn‘t find an option to restore the channel as it doesn‘t show any deleted in my Teams. All the important files in the sharepoint are also gone. I tried checking in the recycle bin and it‘s not there.

What can I still do given that I don‘t have access to admin center?

    Hi Maria M. F.

    Greetings!

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Community!

Based on your description, I understand your need to recover a accidently deleted private channel.

Given that you don’t have access to admin center, please kindly try below steps to recover it:

    1. Click More options (three dots) of (or right click on) the target team > choose Manage team.
    2. Under Channels tab, expand the Deleted channel list.
    3. select the Restore button of the deleted channel.

According to my test, you may have to wait for some time to refresh or restart the Teams app to see the restored channel.

(To restart the app, please right click the Teams icon in taskbar and select Quit Teams and then open it again.)

If the above method failed to you, the only way is to contact your admin (if you are not sure who is your admin, can refer this How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support)  to check ChannelDeleted activity via Audit | Microsoft Purview like in below screenshot: Choose a suitable Date and time range and Deleted channel activity. Then, click Search button to retrieve the related event.

For more information, please kindly refer to Tips for searching the audit log.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation. I wish you all the best!

    Sincerely,

    Connery You

Thank you so much Connery You. I was able to restore the channel using the Purva view, however, I still can't access all the files uploaded there. I have reached out to our IT Team and still waiting for their response. Hopefully I am able to recover the files.

    Thanks,

    Maria M.F.
