My mac only supports up to OS 12.1 Microsoft 365 not compatible with that what do I do

my Microsoft word subscription expired on my Mac figured no problem I’ll just renew my subscription. Wrong. My Mac is only able to be updated up to the Monterey version 12.1. Microsoft 365 is not compatible with that. I am a student I need Microsoft word and PowerPoint. What am I supposed to do? Buy a new laptop? This is absolutely ridiculous. Who has 1000$ + for a laptop? NOT ME. Am I just out of luck here? Microsoft Apple they are all made to last for 2/3 years and then they “stop working” so you can run out and buy their latest product. Please let me know if there’s a solution. Will not be giving apple or Microsoft anymore of my money product wise. Every big business just does what they can to get our money. Tried to call Microsoft support , no humans are there to help u. Just a nice bot telling me to look online as if I haven’t already been doing that for the past 3 days. If anyone can help it would be great (without having to buy a need laptop)

    Honestly, the latest version of Office is only supported on the latest 3 versions of Mac OS. Since you are using Mac OS Monterey, you may need to install the older Office package that's compatible with your Mac OS. You can download the 16.89.1 installation version from this link: Office suite (withTeams) or from this page: Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

    For Mac OS Catalina, you must install the old version 16.66.

    For MacOS Big Sur, you can download version 16.77 of Office.

    For Mac OS Monterey 12.7.6, you can download version 16.89.1
