There appears to be a restriction in loop for MS 365 personal subscribers, being only able to create one workspace. Is this correct? What other limitations can I expect?

My environment is Windows 11, Microsoft 365 Personal and I also use a Samsung Android phone.

I first tried Loop about 6 months ago and created several practice Workspaces (and pages and components) without bumping into any restrictions.

I recently decided to make use of the product in a valuable way, only to not be able to create a new Workspace. I asked CoPilot about this, which told me that MS 365 Personal users now have a one Workspace limit vs. MS 365 Business and Enterprise users with no such limit.

I'd like to verify that this is true and I'm not bumping into some other problem?

    Hi, MichaelMacLellan

Thanks for posting in the community.

From what I understand, you need a license to enable the full experience, which includes "Create a new workspace".

Manage Copilot Pages and Loop components in your organization | Microsoft Learn

Links to information about the specific licenses mentioned: Loop access via Microsoft 365 subscriptions - Microsoft Support

The new license includes: Loop workspace creation, creation and integration of cross-Microsoft 365 Loop components, Copilot page creation and integration, Outlook creation and integration of Loop experiences, Teams creation and integration, and other capabilities. For details, you can refer to the link above.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

Thank you, Zain, for your informative reply. I've looked at the links you provided and would like to share the following:

I'm a little flummoxed by the Loop single Workspace limitation imposed on my MS365 Family account that I pay for.

I can understand the other restrictions, such as no ability to collaborate (i.e. no adding guests, etc.), but am disappointed about the SINGLE Workspace restriction.

At a time when MS is strongly signaling that OneNote is nearing end of life, I would expect MS to be more thoughtful about offering a replacement product (Loop) with an equal(ish) feature set, enabling all OneNote users an obvious and low-friction transition path.

As stated in my OG question, I am paying for a MS 365 (NON business) Family subscription and I have a new project that is valuable to me. I originally thought about using OneNote but given OneNote's anticipated end-of-life and Loop's current restrictions on my type of account, I've been forced to look at alternatives. I believe that I'll be switching to the NOTION product for my new project and if all goes well, I'll transition my current existing OneNote notebooks to Notion as well.

Again, I thank you for your answer and appreciate the opportunity to express my thoughts on this product.

    Mike M.
