I'm trying to open a new account with teams. I keep getting an old account which I don't use with no option to start a new account. How do I add a new account?

    Dear @rob Simpson

Good day. Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. We are happy to help you!

Based on your description, it seems like you're having trouble opening a new account in Microsoft Teams because it keeps logging you into an old account. This is a common issue, especially if you’re using a domain-joined PC, as Teams tends to automatically log into the last used account.

    Here’s what you can try:

    1. Log out of Teams: Click on your profile picture in the top right corner of Teams and select "Sign out."
    2. Clear Credentials: Make sure to clear any stored credentials by opening the Windows Credential Manager (you can find it by searching "Credential Manager" in the Windows search bar). Under "Windows Credentials," remove any entries related to Microsoft Teams.
    3. Incognito Mode: Alternatively, you can try opening Teams in a browser using an incognito or private browsing window. Go to teams.microsoft.com and sign in with your new account credentials.
    4. Downloading Teams: If you're trying this from the Teams app, make sure you download the latest version from the Microsoft Teams download page, which sometimes resolves issues with account sign-ins.
    5. Clear your Teams app cache: Kindy follow the below steps to clear the Teams cache

    Clear Teams cache in Windows:

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and then select Quit.
    • Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key +R.
    • In the Run dialog box, enter %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams and then select OK.
    • Delete all files and folders in the %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams directory.
    • Restart Teams.

    Clear Teams cache in macOS:

    • If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit, or press Command (⌘)-Q.
    • In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
    • Enter the following command, and then press Return: rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams

If I have misunderstood your point, please describe the issue you're experiencing more clearly and please kindly take a screenshot of the issue you're experiencing so I can better assist you.

Hope it will be fixed. Please let me know if you still need further assistance.

    Looking forward to your response.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day!
