A user is experiencing an issue in Microsoft Teams where the entire message typed in a chat disappears if they switch tabs or applications. The user has reinstalled Teams prior to troubleshooting. Cache has been cleared, they are on the latest version, and the repair tool has been run, but the issue persists. Other users in the tenant do not face this problem, and the issue does not occur when using the web browser version of Teams.

    Hi @Christian Bennett,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Q&A Community.

It sounds like the issue with disappearing chat drafts in Microsoft Teams is isolated to one user and doesn’t occur in the web version or for others in the tenant. Since the user has already tried reinstalling Teams, clearing the cache, and running the repair tool, let’s narrow down the possible causes with a few follow-up questions:

    1. What device and operating system is the user using (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS)? Is it a managed device or personal?
    2. Can you confirm the exact version number of the Teams desktop app?
    3. Is the issue happening in 1:1 chats, group chats, or channel conversations? Does it occur in all chats or only specific ones?
    4. Does the draft disappear immediately upon switching tabs/apps, or only after a certain period of inactivity?
    5. Is the user on a stable network connection? Any VPN or proxy in use?
    6. Are there any Teams policies or app configuration profiles applied to this user that differ from others in the tenant?
    7. Is there any clipboard manager, security software, or window management tool running that might interfere with Teams?

These details will help us pinpoint whether the issue is client-specific, policy-related, or environmental.

Looking forward to your response so we can guide you toward a solution.
