Current OS ( 2016)and SQL (2016) versions are going to obsolete and user wants to do inplace upgrade both OS and SQL to version 2022 .
What is the best approach to perform inplace upgrade first . is it OS or SQL ?
Could you please provide me the step by step document .
I think both order will work, but I would update SQL Server first. Make sure that you take backups of the databases both before you upgrade to SQL 2022 and before you upgrade the OS. It the machine is a virtual machine, by all means make sure that you have a backup/snapshot of the machine before you start.
