Assistance is requested in obtaining compatible ISO files for four older HP laptops that are being repaired for donation.

The laptops lack recovery CDs, but they have product labels with OEM product keys. The details are as follows:

  • HP G65 (2)
    • Windows 7 Home Premium OA
      • Version: X16-96072 (both laptops)
        • Serial Numbers:
          1. 90196-105-134-483
            1. 00195-113-250-570
            • HP DV-9000
              • Windows Vista Home Premium CEMAct
                • Version: X13-04657
                  • Serial Number: 00144-181-194-447
                  • HP DV-5000
                    • Windows XP Professional
                      • Version: 375051-001
                        • Serial Number: 00045-617-447-882

Work Completed on the Laptops:

  • Disassembled, cleaned, and tested components
  • Replaced corrupted SATA hard drives with compatible SSDs
  • Replaced two broken displays with used OEM displays (HP G65 and HP DV 5000)
  • Upgraded onboard RAM:
    • HP DV 9000: 4GB
      • HP DV 5000: 1GB
        • HP G65 (2): 1) 2GB, 2) 4GB

Current Situation:

Windows 7 has been installed on all laptops using an ISO disk from an old Asus laptop. However, activation attempts with the OEM product keys have resulted in error messages indicating invalid product keys.

Any guidance on where to find compatible ISO files or links to repositories would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hello,

I'm just going to put this here in case you might not know (the answer to your question is below) but Windows 7 went out of date in 2020. That means no more updates and it's insecure to be on Windows 7 at this point. If you understand that you're more vulnerable to viruses and malware than you would be if you were to use Windows 10 or 11, please continue.

Since Microsoft doesn't provide ISOs for Windows 7 anymore, you can use the Internet Archive. These will be user-uploaded ISOs from disks, archives of official Microsoft ISOs, etc.

You can find the HP OEM Windows 7 ISO at https://archive.org/details/Win7ProSP1HPOEM.

    Hope this helps.
