After upgrading our web platform and infrastructure, we are experiencing issues with user access to Reporting Services. Previously, our environment was hosted on Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2016 and Reporting Services integrated into a web portal. All users had seamless access to reports.

Recently, we upgraded to:

  • Windows Server 2022
  • SQL Server Reporting Services Version 16.0.1117.32

Since the upgrade:

  • Users can no longer access reports as easily as before.
  • We are required to manually add users one by one to grant access.
  • The previous configuration allowed bulk or inherited access, which is now missing.

Request: Please advise what configuration settings or permissions might be missing or need to be added in Reporting Services 16.0.1117.32 to restore the previous user access behavior. We aim to replicate the seamless access users had in the older environment.

Additional Notes: The previous servers have been decommissioned, so we cannot retrieve exact version details or configuration files from the old setup. After upgrading our web platform and infrastructure, we are experiencing issues with user access to Reporting Services. Hi Ricardo Ramos ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Q & A Forum.

Membership in the local Administrators group on the report server is required to add groups, ensure the membership is present. Additionally, confirm that the intended security groups are valid and resolving correctly, as misconfigured or nested groups can also prevent SSRS from applying permissions as expected.

I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
    Thank you
