Dear Collins, Glenn,
Windows Server 2022 includes the latest supported RDP client by default, and updates to the RDP client are delivered through Windows Update. To ensure you're running the most current version:
- Check for Updates Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates, including optional ones. This ensures the RDP client and related components (e.g., Remote Desktop Services, AVC codec support) are up to date.
- Remote Desktop Web Client (Optional) If you're using Remote Desktop Services (RDS), you can also deploy the Remote Desktop Web Client, which provides browser-based access. The latest version as of June 2025 is 2.1.65.0, which includes performance enhancements and bug fixes. Learn more about deploying the web client here.
- Client-Side Considerations Ensure that the device connecting to the server is using a modern RDP client (Windows 10/11 or the latest Remote Desktop app). Supported browsers for the web client must include WebGL and AVC codec support for optimal performance.
