Hi

We have recently started to use M365 Business.

We are unable to drag and drop files between Microsoft applications. For instance if someone sends me an email with an attachment usually you can drag it out of outlook and drop it in the relevant folder. But when we try this now, it don't allow the move. Likewise we can't drag files from the download folder into Teams, it has to be uploaded from Teams.

Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks

    Hi @Abdullah

Thank you for reaching out on the Microsoft Q&A forum

To better understand, could you please clarify the following details?

    General Questions

1.Are you using a personal device, a company-managed device, or something else? Have you tested the issue on another device?

2.Does the issue occur in the web version of Teams/Outlook, the desktop version, or both?

3.Does the problem happen with specific file types (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel) or multiple file types? Have you tried uploading a different file type to see if it works?

4.Is this issue affecting only you or other users in your organization as well?

    Microsoft Teams-Specific Questions

1.Are you trying to upload files in a private chat or a team channel? If in a private chat, is the other person an internal user (within your organization) or an external user (outside your organization)?

2.Do you see the Attach files (paperclip) button in the Teams chat or channel compose box?

    Microsoft Outlook-Specific Questions

1.When you try to download a file from an email in Outlook, does the download option work normally, appear grayed out, or is it missing entirely? Please test this in all three Outlook versions:

    -New Outlook for Windows

    -Classic Outlook for Windows

    -Outlook Web App

Next Steps: If this issue is affecting multiple users and your IT admin confirms that all necessary tenant settings and requirements for using the file-sharing feature are properly configured, I strongly recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft to report the issue. This will help ensure a thorough investigation and resolution.

Here’s what your Office 365 Global Admin should do next:

1.Submit a Service Request: The Global Admin should create a service request with Microsoft support to get advanced technical assistance and diagnostics. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.

2.Find Your Microsoft 365 Admin: If you’re unsure who the Global Admin is within your organization, you can find guidance on locating them here: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.
