Hi! Natasha. Let me help you with this.
Thanks for the detailed description and screenshots. This is actually a fairly common Clipchamp issue that can happen after an update, and it usually comes down to how the recording session is finalized and saved. Let’s see how you can try to fix it:
1. Update Clipchamp
Make sure you’re on the latest version (Microsoft Store > Library > Updates).
This issue has been patched in some builds.
2. Change Recording Save Location
In Clipchamp Settings > Storage, set your default save folder to a local drive (not OneDrive or networked storage).
Record again and see if the saved file keeps its metadata.
3. Convert the Problematic WEBM
Try converting the “broken” .webm file into another format (.mp4) using a tool like HandBrake
or VLC.
Often the video stream itself is fine, only the container is invalid. Once converted, Clipchamp should accept it.
4. Clear Cache and Sign Out/In
In Clipchamp, sign out of your account.
Navigate to %LocalAppData%\Packages\Clipchamp.Clipchamp_yxz26nhyzhsrt and clear cache/temp folders.
Sign back in and try recording again.
5. Use “Export Recording” Instead of “Save & Edit”
Some users report that exporting the recording first (to MP4) and then importing works better than “save and edit.”
Best regards,
Kimberly
