your universal printer driver does not print full portrait page; shrinks 505 & prints in landscape like a left side of a book. How fix. Tried all printer options, No go.

Have Brothers Printer FMC J-4620DW (probably 15-20 years old; wireless connection, all works fine; never a problem until now with this new computer (I had a Surface Pro 4 before this new one.)(Brother's techs cannot get to work with my new Surface Pro 11th Edition, with an ARM processor. Have twice downloaded your MSoft universal driver. Worked fine for two weeks. Then after 3 days non-use, turned on computer and tried printing a normal portrait word document; also PDF and Excel. ALL printed turned sideways as a left hand page of a book (50% size on landscape form.) I rechecked EVERY setting on printer, on the "Print" execution, advanced settings etc. NOTHING will change it to normal portrait. I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft's printer driver and again, it still will not print correctly. I spent 3 hours with Brothers tech going over every option hey could think of with no luck. They said Microsoft's driver can work fine for ever, or it can just do crazy things like this.

When I print from my iPhone it will print correctly as a normal Portrait document.

PLEASE , PLEASE call me and let's work through this. None of your online suggestions fit this exact problem. I need a functioning printer.

    Dear Ms. Beatty,

Based on your description, it appears the Microsoft Universal Printer Driver or IPP Class Driver may not be fully compatible with the Brother MFC-J4620DW on ARM-based devices. This can result in formatting anomalies such as reduced page size and incorrect orientation—issues that have been reported with similar setups2. Unfortunately, Brother’s original drivers are not supported on ARM processors, and the universal driver may not consistently deliver expected results across all document types.

    As a workaround, we recommend:

    • Verifying that the paper size is set to A4 or Letter and orientation is set to Portrait in both the application and printer preferences.
    • Disabling any scaling or “fit to page” options in the print dialog.
    • Testing with a different app (e.g., WordPad or Notepad) to isolate whether the issue is application-specific.

    Warm regards,

    Domic Vo
