Install cloned disk from Surface Laptop 5 to Surface Laptop 7

I have a Surface Laptop 5 which gave me a BitLocker error. Have unlocked and cloned the disk. Now want to install the cloned data on a new Surface Laptop 7. My technician tried, didn’t work and now tells me that it’s not possible as the Surface Laptop 7 has a different processor i.e. Snapdragon. Is this correct or is there a tool that allows above clone transfer?

Thank you, Doris Edwards

The Surface Laptop 5 uses an x86-64 processor (Intel), while the Surface Laptop 7 uses a Snapdragon ARM processor. These are fundamentally different processor architectures, and Windows installations are architecture-specific. You cannot directly clone or transfer a Windows installation between them.

So, your technician is correct.Unfortunately, there's no tool that can convert an x86-64 Windows installation to ARM64. You'll need to do a fresh install on the Surface Laptop 7 and migrate your data separately.
