the title says it all. They were supposed to be deployed in august. Was there some form of delay?

    Hi @Joseph Patenaude,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Q&A Community. We're happy to help you with your concern.

Regarding to your question, threaded channels in Microsoft Teams were initially scheduled for rollout between June and August 2025. According to the latest updates from Microsoft, the general availability of threaded channels began in mid-August 2025 and is expected to be fully completed by late August 2025 across all platforms (Windows, Mac, Web, iOS, and Android).

If you're not seeing the feature yet, it may be due to a ring-based rollout, which means it’s being deployed in phases. No admin action is required for activation, but channel owners can enable the threaded layout by either:

    • Creating a new channel and selecting Layout > Threads, or
    • Editing an existing channel and switching its layout to Threads.

This new layout allows users to reply to specific messages in a side pane, making conversations more organized and topic-focused.

If the issue still persists, please look for any error messages that appear. If possible, please kindly share your screenshot for better investigating.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

    Hi @Joseph Patenaude,

Thank you for your response, good to know that my information is helpful.

Regarding to your new question, I'm sorry to say that Microsoft hasn’t published a detailed tenant-by-tenant roadmap for the ring-based deployment of threaded channels in Teams, but here’s what’s confirmed:

    • General availability began in mid-August 2025, with rollout proceeding in phases across rings.
    • Microsoft stated the rollout would be fully completed by late August 2025 across all platforms (Windows, Mac, Web, iOS, Android).
    • If your tenant hasn’t received the feature yet, it’s likely part of a later ring. You can check your rollout status via the Microsoft 365 Message Center or consult your Teams admin.

Hope my information helps. Please don't hesitate to reach out again for further assistance.

Ah okay so the problem I have is that people within my tenant dont have the feature yet. It seems to be sporadic. Is there any information on that?

    Hi @Joseph Patenaude,

Thank you again for raising this. The sporadic availability of threaded channels within a tenant is actually expected behavior during Microsoft’s ring-based rollout process.

Although Microsoft announced general availability in mid-August 2025, the rollout is happening in phases across rings, meaning different user groups (even within the same tenant) may receive the feature at different times. This explains why some people in your organization have access while others don’t yet.

Microsoft hasn’t published a tenant-level roadmap, but you can check your rollout status via the Microsoft 365 Message Center or consult your Teams admin center.

If the feature still isn’t available to certain users, it’s likely they’re part of a later ring. You might also consider raising a support ticket with Microsoft if the rollout seems stalled or inconsistent, you can follow these steps to send feedback:

    1. Open Microsoft Teams.
    2. Click on the “…” (More options) next to your profile picture (top right).
    3. Select “Give feedback”.
    4. Choose the appropriate category (e.g., Feature issue, Suggestion). User's image
    5. Describe the issue clearly, mention that some users in your tenant have access to threaded channels while others do not.
    6. Optionally, include screenshots or logs if available.
    7. Click Submit.

Alternatively, your Teams admin can raise a support ticket via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for more detailed investigation.

Hope my information helps. Please don't hesitate to reach out again for further assistance.
