Printer properties defaults

Hi there,

We set some settings as default in the printer properties. In our example, we enable the duplex printing option by default.

When printing a Word document, the user changes the default setting to "print on one side" in the print properties. The printout is printed but the document is not closed. When a new Word document is opened, the previous setting, "print on one side," is activated. Is there a way to change this to the default setting of "print on two sides" (even if the previous document is open)?

    Hello Tugrul Sutyemez,

Thank you for reaching out. We understand you're experiencing an issue where users override the default duplex printing setting, and that change persists across Word sessions—even when new documents are opened. This behavior occurs because Microsoft Word retains the last-used print settings per user session, rather than reloading the printer’s default configuration each time.

To ensure duplex printing remains the default, we recommend setting it directly in the printer driver via Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Printer Preferences. Additionally, closing and reopening Word after each print job can help reset session-based settings. Unfortunately, Word does not currently offer a built-in option to automatically revert to driver defaults between documents.

I hope this helps. Just kindly tick Accept Answer that others in the community facing similar issues can easily find the solution. Your contribution is highly appreciated.

    Best regards,
