    Dear @Garikai Katsere

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, this is a common (and frustrating) mismatch teachers see in Teams for Education: the class roster shows a student as “Viewed”, but when you open that student’s submission, it shows “Turned in.”. Here are some suggestions you can try:

    1. Hard refresh the view

    • In Assignments, switch the filter to All students, then click the Refresh icon (or press Ctrl+R).
    • Toggle to another class and back, or open the same assignment in Teams on the web (https://teams.microsoft.com) to compare, if the web is correct, your desktop client is cached. (Cache clearing below.)

    2. Open the student’s submission and “Return”

If you see Turned in on the student page with a timestamp, go ahead and Return (with or without points). That action often forces the roster to pick up the new state on refresh. (If it shows Turned in late, that’s normal when submitted after due time.)

3.Ask the student to re‑submit (if needed)

If the student only uploaded a file or finished a quiz but did not press Turn in, have them open the assignment and click Turn in (or Turn in late). This definitively flips the status.

4.Clear the Teams cache (desktop app) Microsoft’s official steps (Windows/macOS) for both classic and new Teams are here: Clear the Teams client cache.

    • Windows (New Teams): Quit Teams → Run: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams → delete contents → restart Teams.
    • macOS (New Teams): Quit Teams → in Terminal run: rm -rf ~/Library/Group\ Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams and rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2 → restart Teams.

5.If the assignment included OneNote/Class Notebook content

Be aware OneNote sync can delay assignment updates and distribution/collection states. If several students’ statuses look off (especially where OneNote pages were used), it’s usually a service sync delay, refresh later or check service health
In the meantime, while waiting for this issue to be resolved, you can check the students’ submissions by asking those who have turned in their assignments to take a screenshot and send it to you.
And you can try to create a new assignment to check whether it still occurs or not.

If you try all the methods above but the issue still persists, I recommend you contact to your IT/Admin of your organization or school. They can help you to raise support ticket to Microsoft Support team who will look at the assignment/submission objects on the backend and clear stuck states if needed. They can follow these steps as the link : Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.
